 Meet Mrs. Stewart

Hi!  I am Mrs. Stewart.  I have the privilege of teaching music to every student at Paloma Creek Elementary - PreK through Fifth Grade.  This is my eigth year at PCE and I can't wait to see what the year will hold for our students and music program!

I grew up in a small town in Alabama and lived there until I went to college.  In fact, I have a few friends that I was in school with from the time we were two years old to the time we were twenty-two (that's preschool through college)!

I went to The University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) for my first college degree (Bachelor of Music Performance) and then moved to Lubbock, Texas to get my second college degree (Master of Music Education) at Texas Tech University.  I am a certified Orff-Schulwerk teacher and have a Level III Kodaly certification.

The 2019-2020 school year is my 12th year to teach music in public schools.  Before coming to Paloma Creek, I taught at Burks Elementary in McKinney, Texas for three years and Murry Fly and

Cavazos Elementaries in Odessa, Texas for one year.

My husband, Dr. Stewart, and I have been married for eleven years and have two chidlren - our daughter Ella who is a 2nd grader here at Paloma Creek and our sweet, funny 5 year old son, William who will be a Kindergarten Falcon next year.

Dr. Stewart is a musician, too.  He plays the french horn in several orchestras around our state, is a music professor at North Central Texas College, and teaches private horn lessons to students around our area. Dr. Stewart just finished the highest degree you can earn in college and now he is officially a Doctor of Music!

When I'm not at Paloma Creek, you can find me spending time with my precious family, singing along to my favorite praise music or Broadway show tunes, painting, gardening, or working my side gigs teaching music to the kids at Prosper United Methodist Church and selling Thirty-One Gifts.

"Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If a child hears fine music from the day of his birth, and learns to play it himself, he develops sensitivity, discipline and endurance. He gets a beautiful heart." - Shinichi Suzuki

I’d love to hear from you!
